ShadowBox Training
Leaders in Cognitive Skills Training Since 2014
Our training is specifically designed to help learners to challenge their mindsets, mental models, and assumptions. We unpack the insights and experience from experts in your organization, which helps trainees see the world through the eyes of experts – without the experts having to deliver the training.
The ShadowBox Experience
We create scenario-based exercises that highlight realistic and challenging decisions. Throughout our exercises, learners respond to decisions that highlight the cognitive dimension: their priorities, concerns, situational assessment, and next steps. Learners also indicate their reasons for their decisions before comparing to decisions made a panel of experts. Our approach is unique in that learners receive immediate feedback from experts.
Try a ShadowBox scenario!
Below are some links to our favorite ShadowBox scenarios. How do you stack up against the experts?
Law Enforcement
We developed six ShadowBox-Lite exercises, which present quick decision challenges for patrol officers.
Petrochemical Processing
In this scenario, you will troubleshoot the distillation process in a water stripper tower.
Child Welfare
We developed a library of 23 scenarios that are designed to highlight critical cognitive skills for frontline child welfare practitioners.
ExpertEyes for Perceptual Skills Training
We develop video-based training specifically designed to address perceptual skills: noticing relevant cues, detecting slight anomalies, and recognizing subtle changes. These types of exercises work best when teaching observable skills that can be pointed out during short videos. Learners interact with our videos by clicking on relevant cues in our web-based application.
