Helen Altman Klein

Senior Scientist

Helen Altman Klein, Ph.D. is Senior Scientist at MacroCognition LLC and at ShadowBox LLC. She is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Wright State University, where she served as member of the graduate faculty and as the Director of the Applied Behavioral Science Program.

Dr. Klein’s research has used both field observations and Cognitive Task Analysis interviews to explore the perceptual, cognitive, and social demands presented by complex tasks in natural domains. These domains have included civil aviation, military command and control, health care management, law enforcement, and others. She observed and conducted interviews at The Stabilization Force (SFOR) in Bosnia and developed training for U.S. personnel working with NATO forces. She has also undertaken research with participants from Britain, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Panama, Malaysia and the Arab Middle East. These experiences provided the basis for Dr. Klein’s Cultural Lens Model that describes behavioral, cognitive, and social differences among cultures and their implications for cross cultural interactions.
